Pet Photographer in Central Ky
Meet Sadie
Everyone who knows me knows that there is a special place in my heart for animals. It’s no secret that my love grows deep for all furbabies, big and small, domestic and wild. While I love taking portraits of babies, children, and families, I felt somewhat of a calling to become a pet photographer in Central Ky.
I felt somewhat of a calling to become a pet photographer…
I’ve spent a significant amount of time doing work with animal rescue. As a matter of fact, one of my best rescues was a chocolate lab named Smokey. Smokey was found wandering the railroad tracks near Jacobson park in Lexington, Ky. A friendly fireman took him in, but couldn’t keep him. He fostered him while a local rescue searched for Smokey’s forever home. Turns out, that would be me! Smokey was already 5-6 years old and considered an elder in the world of dogs. It’s rather hard for adult dogs to find homes even though he was a pure bred Chocolate English Lab. I had no problems with his age and gladly welcomed him to my home. Smokey became one of my best companions in the few years I had him. He absolutely LOVED to swim. He swam in creeks, ponds, and even my swimming pool! He was an avid frisbee catcher and would fetch in the water for hours if he was allowed. Smokey passed away on August 30, 2012. Since then, there has been a void of sorts in my heart.
When I saw that Rebekah had a new little lab in the family, I could not wait to capture her first portraits. Bekah brought Sadie over, and my heart just melted! Sadie was absolutely the sweetest! And for a puppy, she posed absolutely perfect for the camera. I only had a brief period of time with Sadie, but there is no doubt that she temporarily filled the void I’d sensed in my heart since Smokey’s passing. Sadie confirmed one thing for me….there will definitely be another Chocolate Lab in my near future!
